Our story

I was diagnosed in 2019.

I was 14. This is how the sensor I spent years hiding turned into vital veil.

It took a while.

Weight dropping off, always thirsty, headaches every day. Nobody clocked it until I was in hospital weighing 43kg.

The years after weren't easy. I burnt out on it like a lot of us do, and for a long time my sensor lived under my sleeve.

The idea

I taught myself to make jewellery and started Cal Jewellery in 2022.

One day I was at my bench working on a piece and changing my sensor at the same time. I looked at the two side by side and thought, why can't this be jewellery too?

The first video.

I posted the first prototype not knowing if anyone would care. You did.

Built with you.

People from all over sent me their used sensors so I could make sure every piece fits properly on their device.

A lot of what Vital Veil is today came straight from those messages.

How it works

Two parts. Both reusable.

The Shell push-fits onto your sensor and the Armour sits on top.

When your sensor's done, you move them to the next one. Your CGM keeps reading like it always has.

The name

vital veil

vital, because the device keeps you alive. veil, because you decide how it's seen.

You can be in control of your diabetes. It doesn't have to control you.
